An ELT Glossary : Noun
A noun is a word referring to people, places, things, animals, abstract concepts etc. In the following examples, all the nouns are underlined. Other word classes referred to are in italics. Nouns can : a) act as subject or object of a verb : Catslikemilk b) act as the object of a preposition : I went toAmerica for work c) be modified by an adjective : I need a newpair of brownshoes. d) can be used with determiners : Look at thatcar! Here's the bus. I like yourbag.
