An ELT Glossary : Reflexive pronouns
The pronoun used when the object of the verb refers to the same person / thing as the subject. Eg: I hate watching myself on video.
In English the reflexive pronouns are : myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves. They are therefore unusual in that a different pronoun is used for the second person singular and plural.
Many languages rely on reflexive verbs much more than English. For example : French - Je me suis lavé; Italian - Mi sono lavato; German - Ich wusch mich can all be translated by the English I washed myself. But it would be more natural to say I got washed.
