An ELT Glossary : Articulators




  • Definition : The parts of the mouth used to make consonant sounds. 


  • Examples : The sound /p/ is made using both lips; the sound /t/ is made raising the tip of the tongue to the alveolar ridge (the hard bony ridge just behind the teeth).
